Acosta Leads MotoGP Opening Practice in Brazil
Pedro Acosta, riding for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, set the fastest time in the opening practice session of the MotoGP World Championship in Brazil. The Spaniard navigated the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna circuit with a leading lap of 1:26.688, despite a rain-delayed start to the session. Jack Miller and Marco Bezzecchi rounded out the top three, showcasing competitive times as riders adapted to the new venue and changing track conditions.
MotoGP action commenced in Brazil with Pedro Acosta topping the first practice session at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider posted a 1:26.688 lap time on his Michelin-shod RC16, leading the 22-rider field. This performance positions Acosta strongly as the championship leader heading into the weekend.
The session, which was extended due to an earlier rain delay, saw conditions evolve from wet to dry. Initially, riders started on wet tires before Jack Miller, aboard his Prima Pramac Yamaha YZR-M1, was among the first to switch to slicks with approximately half an hour remaining. Miller secured the second-fastest time, just 0.087 seconds behind Acosta, with a 1:26.775.
Marco Bezzecchi, riding for Aprilia Racing, claimed the third spot with a 1:26.918. Marc Marquez on his Lenovo Ducati Desmosedici GP26 and Franco Morbidelli on his Pertamina Enduro VR46 Ducati Desmosedici GP25 completed the top five, demonstrating a tight competition at the front. The changing track conditions and the novelty of the venue added an extra layer of challenge, making Acosta's early pace a significant statement for the weekend.
