Tony Arbolino demonstrated strong form by leading the Moto2 World Championship practice on Friday afternoon at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna in Brazil. Piloting his REDS Fantic Racing Kalex on Pirelli control tires, the Italian rider recorded a best lap of 1:23.709 on the 2.38-mile road course, securing the top spot among 28 competitors.
Manuel Gonzalez, fresh off a win in Buriram, placed second with a time of 1:23.879 on his Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP Kalex. David Alonso rounded out the top three, clocking in at 1:24.075 aboard his CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team Kalex. Angel Piqueras and Mario Aji also showed good pace, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Conditions were challenging throughout the day, with a wet morning session followed by a drying track, wind, and intermittent light rain in the afternoon. This unpredictability added an extra layer of difficulty for the riders, making Arbolino's performance particularly noteworthy as he put his previous Buriram struggles behind him. American rider Joe Roberts finished the afternoon practice session in 20th position with a best time of 1:25.151 on his OnlyFans American Racing Team Kalex.
