Bulega Leads WorldSBK Free Practice at Assen
Nicolo Bulega, riding for Aruba.it Racing Ducati, set the fastest time in the opening Free Practice session of the FIM Superbike World Championship at TT Circuit Assen. His teammate Iker Lecuona and Sam Lowes rounded out the top three, showcasing strong Ducati performances. American rider Garrett Gerloff finished 14th in the session.
The FIM Superbike World Championship kicked off its weekend at the iconic TT Circuit Assen in The Netherlands with Nicolo Bulega dominating the first Free Practice session. Piloting his Pirelli-shod Aruba.it Racing Ducati Panigale V4R, Bulega clocked an impressive 1:33.952 on the 2.82-mile track, leading a field of 23 riders.
His teammate, Iker Lecuona, secured the second-fastest time with a 1:34.208, closely followed by Sam Lowes on his ELF Marc VDS Racing Ducati Panigale V4R with a 1:34.428. This strong showing from Ducati riders suggests they are in good form for the upcoming races. Danilo Petrucci, riding for ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, placed sixth with a 1:34.737.
Of particular interest to many American fans, Garrett Gerloff finished the session in 14th position. Riding his Kawasaki ZX-10RR, Gerloff posted a lap time of 1:35.301. As the weekend progresses, riders will be looking to improve their times and secure strong grid positions for the main events. This initial session sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting round of WorldSBK action.
