The second day of racing at Daytona saw Sam Drane clinch a dramatic win in Twins Cup Race 2. The event, shortened to a six-lap sprint after an early red flag, culminated in a breathtaking four-way draft to the finish line. Drane, a 15-year-old Australian representing Yamaha BLU CRU Estenson Racing, crossed the line a mere 0.01 seconds ahead of M4 ECSTAR Suzuki's Matthew Chapin.
Hank Vossberg of Robem Engineering Aprilia secured third place, just 0.058 seconds behind Drane, with Bodie Paige (M4 ECSTAR Suzuki) close behind in fourth. The top four riders were separated by less than half a second, showcasing the incredibly tight competition in the class. Michel Agazzi, a wild-card entry and winner of the GSX-8R Cup in Europe, finished fifth after initially running with the lead group.
Other notable finishes included Kevin Olmedo in sixth, followed by the Weyh Racing Aprilia duo of Eli Block and Andrew Weyh in seventh and eighth. Kyle Ohnsorg took ninth, while Seth Dahmer, who was involved in the initial red-flag incident, recovered to finish tenth after rejoining the restart. Drane praised his Yamaha machine, stating, "the Estenson bike is definitely a rocket ship," and expressed anticipation for the next race in Atlanta.
