Ducati Unveils All-New 2026 DesertX Adventure Bike

Ducati has officially revealed its 2026 DesertX, an entirely new adventure platform replacing previous models. This second-generation DesertX features a unique 890cc V2 engine, which Ducati claims is their lightest twin-cylinder with four valves per cylinder, and boasts 110 hp and 92 Nm of torque. A significant improvement for riders is the redesigned, more accessible airbox, addressing a common complaint from the previous generation.
Ducati has pulled back the curtain on its much-anticipated 2026 DesertX, confirming an all-new platform for the adventure motorcycle segment. This second-generation model, previously teased at EICMA, steps in to replace the earlier DesertX and DesertX Rally, which were powered by the 937cc Testastretta engine.
The heart of the new DesertX is an 890cc V2 engine, which Ducati proudly states is the lightest twin-cylinder, four-valve-per-cylinder engine they have ever produced. Notably, this engine departs from Ducati's traditional desmodromic valve system, instead utilizing an IVT variable intake system designed to optimize power delivery across a broad RPM range. The Bologna factory reports impressive figures of 110 hp and a maximum torque of 92 Nm.
Addressing a key point of feedback from the previous model, Ducati has re-engineered the airbox. A frequent complaint among owners was the difficulty in accessing the air filter, often requiring a dealer visit for servicing. The repositioned airbox on the 2026 DesertX is expected to allow for much easier user maintenance, a welcome change for adventure riders who prefer to handle their own upkeep. This new DesertX looks to be a formidable contender for those seeking a capable and user-friendly adventure machine.
