Ernest Bensen Pogue, Father of Racing Family, Passes Away
Ernest Bensen Pogue, patriarch of a family deeply involved in motorcycle racing, has passed away at the age of 88. He was the father of prominent road race technician Anthony "Tony" Pogue, who has worked across AMA Pro, World Superbike, and MotoAmerica paddocks, and also father to two sons who raced motorcycles.
Ernest Bensen Pogue, a foundational figure for a family with deep roots in motorcycle racing, passed away on March 10th at the age of 88. Born on October 25, 1937, Ernest is survived by his six children, many of whom have made significant contributions to the sport.
Among his children are sons Bruce Pogue, who competed in racing from 1983 to 1991, and Shawn Pogue, who raced from 1994 to 1996. His son Anthony, known as "Tony" Pogue, is a highly respected road race technician with an extensive career spanning AMA Pro, World Superbike, and MotoAmerica paddocks. Ernest is also survived by his son Barry, a car restorer and collector; daughter Angie Pogue; and son Steve Pogue.
