Gouker consistently improved his lap times throughout practice and qualifying, leading a competitive 14-rider field on identical Krämer APX-350 MA motorcycles.
The MotoAmerica Talent Cup kicked off its season at Circuit of The Americas, with rookie Nathan Gouker making a strong statement by claiming pole position. Gouker, riding for Quarterly Racing, led both Free Practice 2 and Qualifying 1, setting the fastest lap of 2:27.429. This impressive performance followed a day of steady progression, where he shaved nearly two seconds off his initial practice time.
The 14-rider field, all competing on identically prepared Krämer APX-350 MA machines as part of the "Road to MotoGP" program, showcased intense competition. While Gouker ultimately topped the charts, Kensei Matsudaira of Team Robert's was also a front-runner, initially leading Free Practice 1 with a 2:28.556 lap and securing the second starting position. Sam Drane also demonstrated strong pace, consistently running with Gouker and Matsudaira at the front of the pack.
The close times among the top contenders suggest an exciting double-header race day ahead, promising tight battles for the podium. This series is an important platform for young riders, offering a pathway to higher levels of motorcycle racing.
