MotoAmerica, North America's leading motorcycle road racing series, is gearing up for its 2026 season opener at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, taking place from March 5-7. This highly anticipated event will feature the 84th running of the DAYTONA 200, a race that also commemorates 50 years of Superbike Racing history.
The weekend promises a packed schedule of high-octane racing, with the world's top Supersport competitors vying for glory. Joining them will be the popular Mission King Of The Baggers, Twins Cup, and the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship, ensuring a thrilling start to the season.
A significant change for the 2026 season is the return of the DAYTONA 200 as a points-paying round for the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, a first since 2014. This adjustment adds a new layer of strategy and importance to the historic race. Furthermore, Supersport machines will now be limited to a 15.5L fuel tank capacity, a reduction from previous years. This decreased capacity means teams will likely need to execute a third pit stop for fuel during the 57-lap race, demanding flawless precision from pit crews.
The stakes are incredibly high, with a record $250,000 purse on offer. The winner of the DAYTONA 200 will take home a substantial $50,000, contributing to a total podium payout of $100,000. Adding to the international appeal, Dunlop, the official tire supplier and a dominant force in the DAYTONA 200's history, will cover tire costs for the highest-finishing international rider. This lucrative prize pool has attracted a global field of 49 elite Supersport riders, setting the stage for a truly competitive and memorable season opener.
