Mathew Scholtz of Strack Racing Yamaha secured a commanding victory in the opening Quad Lock Superbike race, leading from start to finish. Following a red-flag restart, Scholtz maintained his lead, finishing over six seconds ahead of the competition. The battle for second place saw Sean Dylan Kelly narrowly edge out reigning champion Cameron Beaubier.
The 2026 Quad Lock Superbike Championship kicked off its 50th Anniversary season with an eventful first race day, marked by early surprises and intense competition. Several Superbike and Superbike Cup riders faced challenges, with some even being sidelined before the main event.
When the lights dropped for race one, Mathew Scholtz, riding for Strack Racing Yamaha, immediately took the lead and never looked back. Despite a red-flag incident that necessitated a restart, Scholtz quickly re-established his dominance. He went on to win the race by a significant margin of 6.630 seconds, also setting the fastest lap at 1:24.406.
While Scholtz pulled away at the front, the real drama unfolded behind him. Reigning champion Cameron Beaubier, representing Warhorse HSBK Ducati Flo4Law, found himself in a fierce battle for second place. Sean Dylan Kelly ultimately secured the runner-up position, narrowly beating Beaubier to the checkered flag. This strong performance by Scholtz sets a high bar for the rest of the season, demonstrating his clear intent right from the start.
